that milk isn’t coming back

don’t cry over spilt milk or lost slippers.

or broken glasses. or chipped cups. or ripped trousers. or car dents.

seriously.

what has to happen will happen whether you like it or not. what you can do is accept it, do something about it and just move on.

there is really no point grumbling or crying or throwing a tantrum over why did that damn cup break or why the hell did that nutcase dent your car.

honestly there’s nothing you can change.

can you go back in time and swerve to avoid the other car? no.
can you get into an argument and abuse his monkey faced ancestors with him for bumping into your car? sure you can. will it make the dent go away? no.
can you get into a fight and exchange blows? sure you can. again will it make the dent go away? no.

nothing you do will make that damn dent go away.

now not for one second am i saying don’t get out and let the fellow know what he did was wrong. do that. get his insurance details and leave it. just don’t push it.

know when to stop. there is really no point in splitting hairs over that damn dent.

it’s done. it’s over.

here’s what’ll happen if you don’t.

you’ll yell.
he’ll yell.
you’ll say he is a buffoon.
he’ll say you’re getting personal.
you’ll say his ancestors were fools who didn’t know their left from their right.
he’ll get pissed cause you got his family into it.
you’ll start exchanging blows.
you’ll go to the cops.
you’ll ruin your mood.
you’ll take it out on everyone else you meet for the rest of the day.

and all this time your dent isn’t fixing itself. it’s there.

instead, what if you told him he should have been a bit more careful and asked him for his insurance details? you can be sure there would be no arguments and fights. just a simple handshake and you are both on your way.

so there. instead of crying about something that happened. accept it and move on.

yup that’s the key.

move on.
